Did you know:
August 9, 1483

The First Mass in the Sistine Chapel
On this date in 1483, the first mass was held in the newly constructed Sistine Chapel. Celebrating the Feast of the Assumption, the ceremony consecrated the chapel, dedicating it to the Virgin Mary. The Sistine Chapel was designed by Baccio Pontelli for Pope Sixtus IV, (hence the name), and built between 1473 and 1481.

Enjoy your visit there tomorrow!

I am thrilled to read your journal, and feel like I am experiencing your trip from afar. I can't hope to duplicate the sites and sounds here in Livonia but I do hope use this time to work on my own spiritual growth.
For those of you reading this at home, EWTN, the catholic TV channel is covering WYD all next week - who knows, maybe we'll see someone we know.

PS Whoever sees this first, please tell Collin that his sister was told that she may be having her baby THIS WEEKEND!
